Guard Your Hearts and Minds

Currently, I am going through the One in A Million study by Pricilla Shirer. One of the things that we went over last week is the fact that we need to reprogram ourselves, obviously with the help of Christ in order to have Promise Land Living. Once again this theme has rang true with my spirit.

Over the past few months I have been so grieved over the number of Christian women who are not concerned with what they put in their minds. The books we read, the movies we see, the websites we visit – society has told us that it is okay, whatever goes as long as it is not hurting someone else, but what about YOU? What if it is hurting you?

As Christians, we are called to guard our hearts and minds: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”  Proverbs 4:23. Guarding our hearts is so important, even if it means that we have to walk away from things. The Lord wants us to value our spiritual wholeness so much that if anything compromises it we should stop doing it. Exposing our eyes, mind and heart to things that are not honoring to God, for any reason, in any situation, is sin.

God has also called us to think on things that are pure: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything be excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”  Phillipians 4:8  In order to reprogram our lives we must commit to program our minds with “good stuff”.

Ask yourselves…Is this movie/book/magazine/website/music - true, noble, right, pure, lovely or admirable? If the answer is no - than put your mind to better use and dwell on the things of God instead.

I want to encourage you to value yourself and don't just allow anything or anyone, for that matter, to enter your heart. You are chosen, beloved, and special to God and He wants nothing to defile you.
