Middle School

Well so far we are surving. The first day was uneventful, thank goodness! She went to 7 classes and has joined the band. She will be playing flute and she is very excited. She was a bit worried about actually being able to play, since she has braces. She came home thrilled that she made a sound with it and the teacher thinks she will be okay with it.

She has begun to receive her books from each class and I really believe each one must weigh 5 lbs or more. I think that I might actually weigh them. So far two of the teachers have decided to let the students take their books home and leave them there. That is a huge blessing, because I think she might break her back if she tried carrying them. They are only allowed to go to their locker twice a day, so changing classes would involve hauling books.

God truly blessed us by putting two girls in her homeroom that she knew. We are thankful that we like both of these girls and they both are good infulences on her. Maggie Wilson is from Ball Camp and is one of her good friends and then there is Virginia Gallaso who is one of my friends daughters and a former Girl Scout. Virginia and Victoria have almost all of their classes together. You all will remember Virginia because she is allergic to peanut butter.

Victoria is riding the bus home Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, but wants me to continue taking her to school in the mornings. I have agreed to do this, but we leave the house at 7:30 a.m. School starts at 8:30 a.m., but they sit in the gym until 8 and talk and then they go to homeroom and can talk, finish homework or read. She was thrilled to get to go early and visit. After the first week of me twitching all the way to work because I was so late we have finally figured out the timing that works to get me to work on time and it is something that she can live with.

She has also begun attending MSM (Middle School Ministry)Remix on Wednesday nights. This is a time of worship, group lesson and then small group discussion. She is in a group with 7 other girls and seems to really like them all. She is already talking slumber party. At MSM last week she discovered that her heart throb from 3rd and 4th grade attends here. He is a 7th grader and he is adorable. Victoria is thrilled to see him again.
